Plating Process Engineer

Job description

• Develop, maintain, and optimize plating processes to meet quality, output, and cost requirements.
• Establish and control plating process parameters, including bath concentration, temperature, pH, current density, plating time, and coating thickness.
• Monitor plating-bath conditions, analyze solution composition, and coordinate chemical adjustments to maintain process stability.
• Analyze and resolve plating defects such as peeling, burning, pitting, color variation, insufficient thickness, or poor adhesion.
• Lead root-cause analysis and implement corrective and preventive actions for plating-process abnormalities.
• Monitor and improve yield, defect rate, productivity, chemical consumption, and production cost.
• Develop, update, and standardize SOPs, work instructions, process parameters, control plans, and process records.
• Coordinate with Production, Quality, Equipment, and NPI teams to resolve issues and improve processes.
• Participate in the trial, validation, and transfer of plating processes for new products during NPI.
• Conduct DOE trials, sample evaluations, and validation of process-improvement solutions.
• Coordinate the monitoring, maintenance, and improvement of plating equipment, production lines, and related utility systems.
• Manage chemical use in compliance with technical, safety, and environmental requirements.
• Coordinate the resolution of customer or downstream quality issues related to plated coatings.
• Consolidate, analyze, and periodically report process status, abnormalities, quality performance, and improvement results.

Requirements

• At least two years of experience in electroplating, chemical processing, or related work.
• Professional background in electroplating, chemistry, chemical engineering, materials, or a related field.
• Knowledge of electroplating principles, chemical properties, bath management, and plating process parameters.
• Ability to analyze abnormalities and improve surface or coating defects.
• Ability to use root-cause analysis methods and process-improvement tools.
• Ability to prepare SOPs, process standards, and technical reports.
• Cross-functional coordination skills and the ability to work on the production floor.
• Awareness of chemical-management, safety, and environmental compliance requirements.
• Good Chinese or English skills sufficient for workplace communication.
